Existing conditions:
The Blais' have come to the Students' design clinic with a proposal for an addition to their existing bungalow. They wish to invest some money in this renovation but have a restrained budget to pay for it all. The proposal we bring foward with the "granny flat assignment" is meant to show them how easy it is to use that renovation to increase their investment while still relieving them from some of the burden of the cost. The area of the house wich has been used in this project was no other than unused space in their new reno.
While demonstrating these points of view to the client, as designers (or architects) we can benefit from additional design wages and ultimately project management fees.
